The Via Clanis is a fascinating itinerary connecting local trails to create an exciting 200-kilometer loop. This 8-stage journey allows the hikers to discover the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, through the picturesque Valdichiana.
Through cities and towns like Arezzo, Castiglion Fiorentino, Cortona, Castiglione del Lago, Montepulciano, Montefollonico, Torrita di Siena, Sinalunga, Lucignano, Monte San Savino, Gargonza, and Civitella in Valdichiana, you can fully immerse yourself in a cultural heritage rich in Etruscan and Roman history, breathtaking landscapes, and an excellent food and wine tradition.
The Via Clanis joins up with other famous routes to form a 205-kilometre loop, touching the Via Romea Germanica, the Via di Francesco, the Sentiero di Annibale, the Via del Trasimeno, the Sentiero della Bonifica, the Sentiero del Nobile, the Chemin d’Assise, the Sentiero del Vin Santo, the Via Lauretana, the Sentiero Torri e Castelli, the Cammino della Traslazione and the Sentiero della Pace.
The eight stages will take you along the Clanis River (Chiana) and its reclamation, showing hidden treasures, breathtaking landscapes and taste delicious local dishes. From charming thermal baths to fascinating cultural events, each stage is enriched by the authentic hospitality by locals and the beauty of Italy's most enchanting villages.
